What is it? – Kayaking is paddling with a two sided paddle, while sitting down. SUP or Stand Up Paddling is exactly that – Paddling while standing!
Will I be able to do it? – No prior experience needed. Swimming ability – participants should be comfortable floating in water with a life jacket. But if your balance is good, you may not even get wet/fall in.
What will I learn? – Safety around water, boat types, equipment fit and usage, correct paddling technique, and a little about what to do if things go wrong. You’ll also be getting a great workout paddling around the dam, when you feel confident.
What’s the cost?
- R300pp for 2 people – 2 on 1 training. Includes entrance fees and equipment hire.
- R500 for 1 person – 1 on 1 training. Includes entrance fees and equipment hire.
How long is it? – Total duration for the course is 3 hours, but actual “paddling time” will be around 1,5 hours.
What do I need to bring? – Comfortable clothes that may get wet. A spare change of clothes and a towel. Sun block and a hat. No special shoes needed.
What equipment do you provide? – We will have all the specialised boats, paddles and life jackets you will need to have a safe and adventurous day out.
How many people can join in? – Minimum 1, maximum 2.
Where is it? – Emmarentia dam in Johannesburg/Randburg.
What days and times can I book? – Available during week days, weekends or holidays. Morning, midday or afternoon sessions. Contact Ryan to book the time and day that suits you.
What if I want something more challenging? – We offer experiences at wilder places like the Vaal river or Sterkfontien dam. Training in white water kayaking or multi-day paddling.
